Privacy

A care calendar says a lot about a family and about the person being cared for: their appointments, what they need, who visits. This is what fairfamily does with it.

Without an account

Everything you type — the people, the tasks, their notes — stays in this browser, on this device. It is not sent anywhere. Clearing the browser's data deletes it.

With an account

The same records are kept on our server so they open on your other devices, and documents you attach are stored there as files. Only your account can read them, apart from what a family link shows (below). Your email address and password are used to sign you in; the password is stored only as a slow, salted hash. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and an identifier from Google, and nothing else. Each sign-in is logged with its IP address for 90 days.

Family links

A family link, which you make and send to relatives, shows the calendar: every task with its date, notes and attached documents, the names of the people on your list, and the fairness summary. Whoever has the link can say which person they are, volunteer for a task nobody has taken, mark a task done, and log care they gave. It does not show the email addresses you keep for reminders, and it cannot change or delete anything else. Treat it like a house key: send it only to family, and revoke it from the app if it goes somewhere it should not.

Reminder emails

If you give a relative's email address and tick "email reminders" for them, they get an email the day before a task they took. Each one says who added the address and has a link that stops them for good. You also get an email the day before a task nobody has volunteered for. We send nothing else to those addresses.

Measurement

We count visits and signed-in users with lytics, an analytics service run by the same people as fairfamily. It records which account signed in by its internal id, never by email address.

Deleting

Deleting a task or a person in the app deletes it everywhere it was synced. To close your account and erase everything in it, write to us with the address you signed up with.
